Google Answer Highlighting Feature

Google have introduced a new feature to search. Increasingly over the last couple of years people have started searching with questions rather than just keywords or phrases. Yesterday Google launched a new feature in search that places snippets from the web page that answer the query put into the search box and where relevant highlights the answer to the query if it is there on the page, for example if the question is “What is the height of the Eiffel Tower” then any search results that include the height will have a snippet under the title with the height in bold.

If there is no clear answer to the question for example “How do I get my website to appear higher in searches” the search results will show under the title of the website page a snippet with any relevant text in bold. For example see the way the second result below is listed. Rather than using the meta description for the page Google displays the relevant text from the page.
