Search Engine Optimisation
Search engine optimisation, SEO, is the art of setting up a website with a structure, architecture and navigation that makes the website easy for users and search engines to navigate and read. In addition, correct coding, architecture and structure means that screen readers can properly access the website as required under the Disability Discrimination Act.
SEO is so much more than just optimising for search engines - every website should be optimised for website visitors and should be properly coded following the W3C guidelines, then not only search engines but visitors and screen readers can easily read your website. Anyone can make their website perform better in searches if they are just prepared to put some effort in. If you are in the UK then choose a .co.uk domain, they are always indexed faster than .com. If you want an international market then fine .com may work but it still won't be indexed as quickly in the UK. Try and have one of your keywords, at least, within your domain name. The domain name and your page titles are very important when it comes to search engines however if you have a website domain that has been around for a while do not abandon it for a keyword rich domain name, it is more worthwhile to keep the older domain and SEO this domain.
